Event Partnership Fund Program

Moree Plains Shire Council is seeking to provide partnership funding support for a range of local events. These events would have the primary aim of enhancing the amenity, wellbeing, and economic vibrancy of the Moree Plains Shire.

Eligible event organisers will be able to apply for a one-off maximum payment of up to $10,000. The money can be used on a wide range of events as outlined in the guidelines.

Targeted support for events has the potential to:

  • Build amenity and community resilience and make the community a more desirable place to live and work.
  • Lead to long term economic diversification and new employment opportunities.
  • Increase the visitor economy.

The end goal is to deliver a program that will have the greatest positive impact on the local community and businesses.

 

Heywire Youth Innovation Grants

he FRRR ABC Heywire Youth Innovation Grant program helps communities take action on ideas generated by young Australians on issues that matter to remote, rural and regional youth. The Heywire Project Ideas are developed annually at the Heywire Youth Summit in Canberra.

Grants of up to $10,000 are available for communities to act on these issues by either adopting or adapting the project ideas for 2024. That might include implementing the idea as developed by the Heywire Youth or by adapting it to respond to the issue the project idea seeks to address with an initiative that meets the needs of young people in your community.

The 2024 Heywire issues impacting young Australians are:

  • Bussin’: more accessible transport options for young people
  • MEE (Mentoring Educating Empowering): accessing quality education
  • A Place for You: improve accessibility to mental health services
  • The Bigger Picture: celebrating individual differences and fostering connections
  • Safe Sphere:relevant and comprehensive sexual education for young people
  • Youth 2 Grassroots: fostering a culture of environmental protection and stewardship

 

Open Streets Program

The Open Streets Program is a $4.5 million grant program that will provide successful councils with funding of up to $150,000 to temporarily close streets to cars and open them on a day, or series of days, for placemaking events and activations. The program purpose is to encourage collaboration between government, business and community to improve the vibrancy of local streets and centres.

The Open Streets Program aims to meet these objectives:

  • Temporarily close streets to vehicles and open them for people, with projects over a day, or series of days, and provide safe spaces for community events and activities.
  • Bring vibrancy to our streets by creating a sense of excitement and discovery with creative events and activations that are inviting and inclusive to all the community.
  • Support job creation in local businesses and the cultural sector.
  • Support the development of longer-term place management outcomes, through projects that encourage private-public partnerships.
