ClosedGrant Closed: 24th of May 2023 - 5:00 pm Value: Unspecified Run By: Australian Government Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water Further Information: https://www.grants.gov.au/Go/Show?GoUuid=4d95a657-dee6-47d7-a6db-984d1c808354

The Program seeks to encourage the development of innovative, low-cost, accurate and fit for purpose solutions for biodiversity monitoring that will support government initiatives including the new Nature Repair Market.  The aim is to improve confidence that a project is delivering biodiversity improvements while making monitoring easier, less time consuming and more cost-effective.

The Program will support the development of innovative technologies and approaches that could be employed to enable high integrity, cost-effective biodiversity assessment and monitoring of projects. Relevant approaches include, but are not limited to, remote sensing, artificial intelligence, edge computing and citizen/landholder science.

The objective of the Program is to develop new approaches or technologies that make biodiversity monitoring for the Nature Repair Market easier and/or better.

The intended outcomes of the Program are:

  • innovative biodiversity baseline assessment and monitoring technologies that have the capacity to be deployed in the Nature Repair Market
  • assessment and monitoring capability that can support confidence in the integrity of the outcomes that buyers are purchasing in the market
  • lower costs of project monitoring compared to more traditional approaches, and
  • more or better monitoring technologies and approaches which can occur across the various Australian environments.

Successful applicants to this grant opportunity will also need to demonstrate how their proposed technology or approach will contribute to baseline assessment of biodiversity and ongoing monitoring of biodiversity change.
